Open Satsang with Mooji in Rishikesh

Sri Mooji will be sharing Open Satsang at Swami Swatantranand Ashram in Rishikesh February 16 – March 19, 2017 ( stay updated with schedules on Mooji.org)

This post is about my experience during Satsang with Mooji in Rishikesh 2016.

Prior to traveling to India to see Mooji, I had already experienced a couple of silent retreats in Monte Sahaja and Zmar in Portugal. These retreats were incredibly powerful and transformational.  So naturally, there was a strong pull to see him in a sacred place like India.

Upon my arrival, Mooji’s dominant presence was everywhere. There was so much excitement in the air. I recognized some familiar faces from prior retreats and from watching his Satsangs online. On the streets his name was being called out by locals in efforts to lure you into restaurants and rickshaws. The town was adorned with posters — photos of Mooji with business owners and friends telling stories of how they first met Mooji many years back. They told stories of his humbleness despite his popularity in the recent years. It was lovely hearing the stories of Mooji in Rishikesh and his time in Tiruvannamalai back in the day.

While attending daily Satsangs, there was something very magical about being there with so many of his dedicated followers and curious guests alike. They had traveled from all over the world to be near this great master. It was humbling to be within the Himalayas — a place where spirituality —  so tangible, dominant, and ever-present. The collective energy was intense and filled with so much love, gratitude, and music. The daily bhajans, along with his beautiful and profound wisdom created an incredibly healing space which sank so deep into my being. It was the perfect and fertile space to open up and receive his teachings. Mooji creates an atmosphere of grandness and vastness and incredible depth. His presence is undeniable.

I have such a special place in my heart for this sweet, beautiful, and wise master. I’m so grateful for his teachings and pointings, which have allowed me to pursue my truth. What greater gift can I ever receive in this lifetime. There is nothing greater than seeking liberation.  Thank you, Mooji!

Helpful tips on attending Satsang with Mooji in Rishikesh:

  1. Arrive early to queue/line up because it fills up fast.
  2. Bring a snack as Satsangs can go a little longer at times.
  3. Bring a meditation pillow just in case you need to sit on the floor. It can be incredibly uncomfortable since there is no cushioning available on the cement floor.
  4. Bring water and stay hydrated
  5. It is extremely hot. A hat is highly recommended

Food Recommendations:

There is only one place that I can highly recommend in Rishikesh. This place is Rajasthani restaurant. It’s about ten minutes (with a Rickshaw) from Swami Swatantranand Ashram. If you like real authentic Indian food, this is your place. You will encounter a lot of Mooji’s followers here.
